PUBLIC SPEAKING
Before doing the public speaking module I was completely and utterly dreading it because at the start of the year, speaking in front of people absolutely terrified me. Throughout the year I have done work experiences that have allowed me the opportunity to learn and experience talking in front of people and learning to talk to a variety of people to let me relax and get used to speaking in public. After doing the module I actually really enjoyed it as I thought the teacher was going to be terrifying and make us talk in front of the class all the time but that’s nothing what it was like and the teacher was also really nice. For the interview, I was nervous to go in but I knew if I just relaxed I’d be fine as I now realise I actually am quite good at talking in front of people and presenting my speech to people. If I could have done anything better for the exam, it would be to have done a better PowerPoint with more pictures rather that writing. It would have made the PowerPoint more interesting for the examiner and also for me as a prompt. After I have my speech, the examiner was lovely and she asked me about showjumping and the musical and we had a lovely chat afterwards. I left feeling ok that I had passed the module.
I was surprised with how much I had enjoyed the module and would tell people not to worry about doing the module as it’s more fun than you’d think.

pottery pieces
Today, in pottery I made a slab with my name on it. It was really hard to make the letters and I was originally going to just do my initials but then I decided to give doing my whole name a go and it actually worked out.
careers
Careers was a very fun module as we got to learn about all the types of different career options and did loads of personality-trait surveys and best career options for you surveys on a website called careers portal.ie. Doing the careers project was really interesting as I got to study my possible future career option and learn about all it in-tailed.
Nutrition And Dietics
Out of all the modules we did in the first term, Nutrition and Dietics was by far my favourite because it was so factual and interesting. Although there was lots of work to be done in the module, it was ok because it was very interesting and I enjoyed it in general. I found the aspect of studying many of the athletes cought doping, most interesting. So far, this is my no. 1 module.
Mindfulness
As a module I found mindfulness really hard, frustrating and boring. I believe that knowing how to be mindful is very important although I don’t think this needs to be studied in such great detail. I didn’t enjoy meditation or any of the other concentration tricks as I found it boring and hard to focus. We learned plenty of useful things but mindfulness was certainly not my favourite module.
