MY TY HOPES AND EXPECTATIONS
IThis year, i am taking part in transition year in st. Gerards. Transition year is suppose to be a year which allows you to experience many new things which will also hopefully assist you in future life decisions and also future careers.
For my transition year experience, I hope to fulfill all of my plans and to grow as a person. one of the ways in which i wish to do this is through work experience. If you were to ask me what i think my future career is going to be, I would have absolutely no idea. This is why, this year i am going to try as many different work experiences as i possibly can.
Over the summer,I made a list of all the jobs I had an interest in. At the start of TY, i chose a handful of these jobs to do work experience with. One of these jobs is equine-physiotherapy. I chose this as my first work experience as I have a strong interest in learning more about the bone and muscular structure of a horse. I have also had an equine-physiotherapist come to see my animals many times before and I would love to be able to do what she can.
Although I am excited for this year, I am also quite nervous for some aspects of the course. One thing that I am definitely nervous for is the musical. I do not like singing, dancing or acting nor am I in any way good at them. The musical is certainly not something am looking forward to.
Another aspect of the year that I am nervous for is putting myself out there and doing things that are out of my comfort zone. Although I am nervous for this I do want to try and take par in everything. I feel it will be good for me and also bring out another side in me.
I am excited to experience many of the trips we go on during the year such as, the camping trip and the camino along with many other fun activities that we get the opportunities to do.
As soon as we get our junior cert results, we go on a camping trip to Lough Dan for two nights. All the other years before us have said how much they enjoyed the trip and how it brought their year group so much closer together. I am hoping that we take the same benefits out of the trip as they did.
There are many different reasons to be excited for TY but as the teachers have told us ,we will only take what we give to the year so we must put in the work to expect to get it back.
