CAROL SINGING- PETER MCFERRY TRUST
To raise money for the Peter Mc Ferry trust, myself and my YSI group decided we would carol sing to raise money. On Thursday, We went to St. Stephens Green Shopping Centre and we sang loads of different Christmas songs. We may not have been the best sounding choir but we did manage to raise an amazing two-thousand euro for the Peter Mc Ferry trust. This will help them so so much over Christmas time and we Are all delighted to have been able to take part in something so great. To top off the whole day, Gerards SCT managed to win their league match! It was an amazing win for our school and one to certainly remember!
YSI week one
We begun our first week of YSI (young social innovators) and as a group, we collectively decided that the topic we wanted to focus on would be homelessness. Homelessness is a very big and very current problem in Ireland at the moment and also a massive problem on our doorstep, Bray. We hope to promote homelessness as a growing problem in Ireland and we want to help the cause as best we can. Our next step as a group is to decide on a name for our group and make sure we're all happy with it.
talk with Frances Doherty from the Peter Mc ferry trust
Peter Mc Ferry Trust
Frances Doherty is head of communications in the Peter Mc Ferry trust and plays a huge role in their day-to-day dealings. The Peter Mc Ferry trust is a trust set up years ago by a young man named peter and his aim was to end homelessness. He started by helping one young boy which turned into helping thousands.
This year our YSI are focusing on the crisis of homelessness and we want to raise awareness to the cause and do everything we can to assist the end of homelessness.
Today, Frances explained everything the trust does to try and help and that their main problem is all the derelict houses lying around that could be put to use for the homeless people of Ireland. They want the government to stop building more houses and fix the ones that are left in-used.
Frances explained that the best way we can help us by downloading their app and helping them. Their app is used to point out where there is derelict houses on a map of Ireland and when they know these places they can then begin to set in a plan to rebuild and use these houses for the people in need. He wants us to raise awareness to the problem and help as best we can.

BAZAAR FUNDRAISER
This week, we helped to organise our school bazaar. We organised a bake sale for our YSI and raised a tone of money to donate to the homeless. The bazaar is held every year by our school to raise money for numerous charities and the TY students always get a chance to do something to raise money for their YSI project. I made Oreo cake pops and cookies. They tasted really good. We had to be in the school at 5:30 to help set up our area and make it look pretty so people would buy our cakes and help us raise the money to help the homeless people of ireland. At the bazaar, my job was to stand at our stall and sell cakes. Some people walked around with box’s of sweets and sold them.
Hopefully, the bazaar will have helped us to raise all the money we need to do our part.
