VIKINGS OVERALL YEAR REVIEW
In the summer of 2017, I was asked to be a stunt double on set for the ‘Vikings’. Being able to take part in something that is so hugely admired across the world with its biggest competitor being ‘Game of Thrones’. ‘Vikings’ has received many awards such as Emmys, Canadian Screen Awards and other Critics Choice television awards.
Every time I get called to set I’m filled with excitement to see my friends and to get to work, even if that does mean getting up at 4AM latest to start filming by 6AM..
Iv met so many amazing people through Vikings which I am so grateful for and so happy to be able to call my friends. The whole cast of this amazing show are so lovely and such inspiring people who make every early morning (or late night) so much more worth-while.
While being on Vikings Iv been able to do so many fun things for them which I am unfortunately not able to go into detail about but, I can certainly say that I’ve learned something new from it each time.
I can say I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute Iv spent on set even for the days I was there and not actually needed..

LEILA BARKER EVENT RIDER
This week, I did work experience with Event rider Leila Barker from Enniskerry. She is based down in Dargle in Johny Ronan’s horse yard.
I had a really good week while based with Leila. We did so much fun things minus the general yard duties such as mucking out, sweeping, haying, feeding etc. But all that was still enjoyable. We went to the gallops twice and I rode 3 horses there. We also did some grid work one of the days with the horses and we built six different grids to suit each of the horses. We even did some dressage and hacking which aren’t my favourite as I’m a show jumper but they were also still very enjoyable. I had such a good week with Leila and she said she’d love my help around the yard more so she has offered me a job during the summer which I can’t wait for.

SHERRY FITZGERALD
This week, I did work experience in Sherry Fitzgerald. The best thing about Sherry Fitz is that they have a TY programme so your week is set out and you actually get to learn about realistate and have it be as if you actually work there.
On Monday, we did an introduction day in Ballsbridge and got to meet new people and we got put into 4 teams. The teams were for different challenges we had to do throughout the week and quizzes that would then be added up for a main score at the end of the week. We got so many different talks from all different areas of the companies, either Sherry Fitz or Cushman & Wakefield. Most of the talks were surprisingly interesting except for some like say, finances or accounting!
On Tuesday, we were in Sandyford in their new offices and that day was definitely a little more boring as it was a little under planned and hectic. We also had to leave when we were eating and it was lashing outside so that slightly cut our options.. on Tuesday evening we found out what branches we would be doing our placements in. I got to go to Bray which is where I really wanted to go. I also got to do it with my friends Sean and Joe.
On Wednesday, myself Sean and Joe went in for our first day of placement and honestly iv never met nicer people than the people working there. Every single one of them was so lovely and chatty! Evelyn and Barbara were my favourites for sure! One of the guys took us for a house viewing and we had to do the floor plans and the brochure for it and whoever had the best one at the end of the week got a prize.. (I did not win) the apartment we went to see was really nice and me Sean and joe had so much fun doing the floor plans!
On Thursday we didnt get to quite as much as we had on Wednesday. We went to a house and pretended to be the buyers and decided if we liked the house enough to buy it and then we had to put an offer on it. That was very fun but when we got back there was nothing else we could do so we went for lunch and came back and looked at houses online and messed on google maps street view. It was a really funny end to our placement.
On Friday we did our graduation and that was a really funny day. Michael greffin, chief executive of Sherry Fitz can to give us our graduating deplomas. For the graduation we had to come up with a theme song for Sherry Fitz so I came up with using the”Bob The Builder” theme song and just using our own works. I put the song below! Our song was definitely the funniest to say the least!
I had overall a really good week with sherry Fitz and I would definitely recommend their TY programme to any other up and coming fourth years.
“Sherry Fitz, can we sell it”
“Sherry Fitz, yes we can”
“Foxrock and bray and Dundrum too”
“Dalkey and greystones and Sutton too”
“Working together they got the job done”
“Selling together, we make the job fun”
“Sherry Fitz, can we sell it”
“Sherry fit, yes we can”

SIMON COMMUNITY
For my week of community service I had been planning to go to the Simon community in Redcow Lane. The Simon community do amazing work with helping to homeless and are an NGO. I would have loved to have properly seen how am NGO worked but unfortunately the week didn’t quite go to plan.
The weekend before I was supposed to be with the Simon community, I got a really bad stomach bug and wasn’t able to go in on the Monday but had planned to go in on Tuesday. On Tuesday I went in and we did an introduction to the work the Simon Community does and how they do their part in ending the Homelessness crisis. We didn’t really her to do all that much on the Tuesday and I fortunately due to the weather I wasn’t able to get to the Simon Community for the rest of the week. It’s a real pity but there was nothing I could do about the weather.

ITOA WORKSHOPS
This week for work experience, I have been working with my mum in her job and also helping her host her annual ITOA (Irish Tour Operators Association) workshops. This is a really big event for my mums business every year and a lot of work always gets put in. This year, myself, Sarah Murphy and Adele O’Reilly helped my mum for the week. We were meant to be in Limerick on Monday and Tuesday but unfortunately we had to post-pone it to the end of March as the weather caused us to have to cancel. On Wednesday and Thursday however, we were in Fitzpatricks castle hotel In Killiney for the Dublin workshops. I had to do many this leading up to the event such as packing over 250 leaflets and putting together 300 badges. All the preparation was pretty much done prior to arriving at Fitzpatricks Hotel but when we got here we had to put up all the Pop-ups for advertising and bells and computers for organisation and planning.
It was a surprisingly enjoyable experience and I would love to go next year and am very excited for Limerick.

work experience in the parkview hotel
From the 2nd of October to the 6th of October I did work experience with my aunt, Anne-Marie Wrynn in the park view hotel doing many different things. On the first day I worked in the sales and marketing office. I worked on comparing 6 different hotels competitive wedding package prices to the park views packages to make sure that the park views rates are competitive. I also got to go to a meeting with Conor Hipwell who is part of the mentalists, Martin Barry's marketing team. He has worked with Martin for over 20 years now and the meeting was really interesting. He was booking Martin's gigs for this years coming tour and he wanted to book one in the Parkview. He really tried to involve me in the meeting by asking for my input and taking any points I had on board. He was a really interesting and lovely guy. Another day I received help from the staff to create my CV. It turned out really well and I can now apply for more work experiences.
I definately found the waitressing to be the hardest aspect of this job. You are always on your feet running around and when it's busy your running around like mad but when there's no one in the restaurant it Can be really boring and tedious. It's easy and quick to get a lot of the smaller jobs done so you can end up having nothing to do.
I think this work experience was really good for me to explore the different aspects of the hoteliers business and after having a taster of it I'm not sure that it would be a career option for me. However, over all I had a really enjoyable week and got to meet so many lovely people who also advised me to "not continue in the hotel businesss".

EAST COAST FM
I did work experience with East Coast FM Radio Station this week from Monday to Thursday! On Monday and Tuesday I didn’t really Get to do anything overly interesting. I did their invoices and sorted their books. I posted letters and I did coffee runs. It was a good experience but I didn’t overly enjoy it. On Wednesday and Thursday I definitely had more fun. I got to organise event decorations and goody bags on Wednesday. On Thursday, I got to work with the producer in her room and help her out and I also got a chance to try out the recording room where I recorded a news segment and edited it myself. It was cool to learn how to do that and I had fun the last two days.
